What is charoset?
Charoset is an element of the passover seder plate. it is traditionally made with apples, nuts, honey, and either wine or grape juice.
What does charoset represent?
Charoset represents the bricks the israelites made when they were slaves in egypt. it is traditionally eaten in a matzah sandwich during the seder with the bitter herbs-to represent the bitter taste of slavery combined with the sweet taste of freedom.
*6 apples, finely chopped
*1 tbsp. cinnamon
*1/3 cup red wine or grape juice, more as desired
*1/2 Cup walnuts, finely chopped
*1 tbsp. honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar
*1 tbsp. orange zest

how to make it:
once you have the ingredients, charoset is super easy to make! first, you’ll chop the apples and place them in a mixing bowl (you want them PRETTY SMALL; some people even grate them). you’ll also chop the walnuts.
then, you simply add all the other ingredients and stir it all together! from there, you can either eat it right away, or let it sit for a few hours so the flavors can all meld together a little better.
